What would Jesus do? (Guest column)

What would Jesus do when...

...confronted by a raging maniac?
even as he did with Legion
he would cast out (deny) the false belief and heal the man.

...caught at sea in a small ship during a violent storm?
even as he did as the ship began to sink, he would acknowledge the harmonious presence of God's protecting power to still the raging waves.

...meeting a man blind from birth?
even as he did do with the man by the wayside,
he would deny the power of sin to cause blindness and heal him.

...seeing a chronically-crippled man or woman?
even as he did do with the man at the pool of Bethesda or the woman "bowed together" eighteen years
he would recognizethat God never made a cripple, and heal them.

...faced with financial lack or famine?
even as he did with the 5,000,
he would recognize God's loving care and feed them.

...all others around saw only death?
even as he did do with the synogogue ruler's daughter or Lazarus,
he would silence all claims of death and recognize the everpresence of Life.

...met by ten lepers?
even as he did do with the ten,
he would recognize the present perfection of the image and likeness of God and heal.

So, you ask, what would Jesus do?
Jesus would heal no matter what the situation.
And what can we, who claim to be his followers, do?
Even as Jesus commanded us, "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature", and "these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." (Mark 16:15-18)

By acknowledging Jesus' example, we can do likewise even as he said: "Verily, verily, I say unto you,He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do;because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son." (John 14:12,13)

An empty or nebulous promise? I don't think so!
Jesus wouldn't do that to his followers!
