Holding Our Ground

This being a soldier of Christ

Is not all charging up the hill,

I have found.

At times there is nothing

One can do but

Do what the Bible

Admonishes:

"Be still, and know
 that I am God."

During these times,

We need to hold the ground gained

Until incoming enemy fire

Has waned,

Until the battle field is quiet.

I often think

Of trees in their

Majestic majesty

Who during a storm

Just stand there and take it.

And this further from the Bible,

"Hold that fast which thou hast
That no man take thy crown."


When we're doing these two things,

You and I are doing more than we think.
